After you file for divorce and right after the final divorce papers come in, all that you can think about might be how much you resented the life that you had before the divorce, and how much of a relief it is that you are finally out of its bonds. If you can, muster up enough courage to apologize for the things that you thought, did, and said wrong. If there are promises that you didn’t keep, apologize for such promises. This way, you start making an environment that’s conducive for healing and it’s more peaceful for your children too.
After that, you deal with the children right after. Let your kids know that the break up is not their fault and it is entirely something that’s out of their control. Just explain calmly and be honest with them. Also, try not to show that divorce is an eventuality, however, tell them free divorce legal advice that it’s a curative measure for when supposedly productive relationships don’t bear fruit anymore. Just like quitting a job that affects your health badly, or a jeans which are already too tight for you. Make them understand, also, that people file for divorce for the better.
When you have already cleaned the slate for your family, this is the right time that you bring the focus back to yourself and reconstruct the emotional damages that the divorce has caused you. Look back to the person that you were when you were still happy and healthy, and try to go back to that state. Are there common law marriage things that you wanted to do for a long time, but you just didn’t have the time for them? Are there places that you wanted to see? People you wanted to visit? Do all these things and more! Sooner than you think, you’ll learn that decision to file for divorce is all worth it in bringing back a better you.
